Gregor Kosi on Leadership, Humanity, and the Age of AI
Gregor Kosi, a recognized expert in leadership, motivation, and organizational development—and one of the most popular speakers in Slovenia—will be speaking at the DIGGIT conference on June 5, 2025.
He will reveal the role of humans in increasingly automated companies.
As a prelude to his talk, we spoke with him about the future of leadership.
1. The Modern Leader: Leadership with Integrity and Humanity
What is the purpose of The Modern Leader platform, where you share free leadership tips, tools, lifestyle advice, and event information?
The Modern Leader is a free weekly newsletter for those who believe in leading with integrity, courage, and human connection.
It emerged from the need—and the desire—to spread Slovenia’s excellent leadership practices globally, while also bringing the world’s best leadership ideas home.
The advice I share is practical, built from almost 20 years of leadership experience in one of the fastest-growing, most dynamic companies, responsible for over 2,000 people.
Behind every post lies an invitation to reflect, to engage in dialogue, and to dare change.
I believe together we can create a space for a new generation of leaders—those who lead with purpose and leave a lasting legacy.

2. The Invisible Patterns We Bring into Organizations
In a recent ZaLife podcast, you said a company is the sum of dysfunctional family relationships. Could you explain this further?
Every leader and employee carries their personal story into the workplace.
If we haven't processed certain childhood patterns or close relationship dynamics, we tend to repeat them—often unconsciously.
Someone who wasn't heard as a child may desperately seek validation as a leader.
Someone who always cared for others might take on too much responsibility and burn out.
We carry patterns of control, submission, silent resentment, and conflict avoidance into our companies—and they silently build the culture.Without awareness, we create companies full of surface harmony and little trust.
That’s why a leader's personal development is the foundation for healthy organizations—and real human connection.

3. Leadership Mirrors: How We Treat People Shapes Behavior
You wrote on Instagram: employees behave not as leaders expect, but as they are treated. What advice would you give on nurturing employee relationships?
Employees mirror their leader with unfiltered sincerity.
If they are treated with distrust, they behave defensively—hiding mistakes, avoiding responsibility, playing it safe.
If a leader wants a different reflection, they must provide clear expectations, strong support, and regular, honest feedback.Misaligned expectations create programmed conflicts.
As the old saying goes: Clear accounts, good friends.
→ Have you ever experienced a shift in team dynamics after a leadership change? I'd love to hear your story!
4. The Future of Leadership: More Human Than Ever
Artificial intelligence is reshaping organizations. What does the leadership of the future look like?
Humans are not digital—they are analog creatures.
They feel, sense, and understand through relationships, not algorithms.
The leader of the future must cooperate with AI, but remain fiercely loyal to what makes us human. While AI takes over logic, leaders will remain drivers of meaning.
At DIGGIT, I’ll explain why leadership will need to be more human than ever—and how we can create organizations where technology serves people, not the other way around.
